Using Congress Text is easy and boils down to three steps:
To begin using Congress Text, you first need to open an account. We make this easy by offering a FREE no risk and no obligation trial. Opening your account is simple and requires that we verify you are an active member of the U.S. Senate or House of Representatives.
Once we've verified your identity, we will open your account and provide you with the login credentials. We'll also help you initiate a campaign to gather constituents consent to message.
There are two ways to get constituents to join your list: active and passive.
One active approach is through campaigns to your existing constituents. If you have a database of constituents' cell phone numbers, you can send them an opt-in message. If they reply affirmatively, then they're added to your list. Congress Text lets you broadcast in groups of 400 or fewer, with different messages for each group.
Another active approach is through campaigns to potential constituents. Congress Text provides, for an additional charge, databases of cell phone numbers by geographic region: ZIP Code, or city and state. With this database, you can begin reaching constituents who might otherwise not be engaged using a similar campaign as with existing constituents.
A passive approach is to install our "web site widget" on your Congressional Office web site. This widget allows your constituents to input their cell phone number — directly on your web site — and have them automatically joined to your list. If you have a Facebook account, the widget can be installed there.
You can easily send messages to your constituents. First, you can log into your congressional text account and send messages from the web. Second, you can send an email from your email program, to your Congress Text account, and we will relay this message to your constituents.
To ensure your constituents receive your message, make sure you keep it to 140 characters or fewer.
